Post-once-a week, The Blue Heron chronicles.

Well I’m off to a slow start as this is my first post.  But as they say, better late than never!   I live by Stanley Park and my apartment looks out onto English Bay.  In the spring we have the annual return of the Blue Herons to nest and have babies.  But for the first time, I’ve been seeing a Blue Heron roost on a rooftop of an apartment building across the alley.  It seems like every time I look out the window, the Blue Heron is sitting on the roof – same spot every day and all day.  I’ve decided to name it Barclay.  Now when I get up in the morning I look out to see if Barclay is there. One day I saw several other Blue Herons on the same roof and once there was another Blue Heron one building over.  It will be interesting to see where this goes.  Stay tuned for the Blue Heron chronicles.

  1. Cathy here. Since writing this post, I’ve watched a short film on Knowledge Network in British Columbia, about the Herons that come to nest every year. It was beautifully filmed and I learned so much more about this wonderful birds. I hope you get a chance to see them someday.
